About

January 21st, 2009

As you might have guess by the domain name and the blog title, my name is Francesco Castaldo, I’m currently living in Italy and I could define myself as a “web fan”.

I have been working for the web since 1997 when, after reading HTML for dummies, I pretended to be a webmaster and started building websites :)
I laugh at it now, remembering the book authors’ somewhere stated they did not really know what the <doctype> tag meaning was, and that it could be omitted in any page. LOL

In 2000 I moved to Milan to work for Sapient, and in the following years I was lucky enough to join projects of some of the most important Italian brands. I worked with many genius (site developers, programmers, web engineers, tech architects, information architects, web designers, sys admins etc.) who tought me tons of cool stuff.

My skills today go from Search Engine Optimization to web marketing, from building websites to developing applications for Facebook, MySpace etc. from estimating budget for a project to managing the tech team through the development – delivery activities.

Why this blog? I am not a tech guru, I have plenty of things to learn but since in Italy – due to the actual crisis, and to the fact that management in companies is usually devoted to old and outdated solutions – I find it very difficult to apply my ideas in my work I just thought I could share them here :)

Peace & Love

Francesco

P.S. in case you stumbled on a concert photo with my name on it, yes I am the same person. I love photography and at night, when the office computer shut down, I bring my camera with me and go to any available venue to take some concert shots.
