Twitter Geo Location
I’m pretty sure no one did notice it, but a couple of weeks ago I developed a test widget that plays with the current Twitter location feature combined with the visitor ip location. It’s in the lower right corner, called Tweets near you :)
It was more a sort of exercise than a real widget, that’s why I didn’t share it on wp.com (if anyone is interested in the code, leave a comment and I’ll send it by email). I just wanted to start working on a few things: visitor location, tweet location, the new Widget interface in WP 2.8 (interesting but still ugly), Twitter api and Json on php. Lots of stuff :)
The good news is that just a few minutes ago, Twitter said he would improve tweet geo location very soon, making it much more precise and available, through api, for each tweet (depending on the user choice), instead of a generic location for the user profile.
As soon as I read it, I bought one more domain. I have to prepare a few things to be ready when the new api will be available, see you soon ;)
P.S. in case you need a very cheap but reliable Cron Job service on the web (because your cheap hosting does not provide it), have a look at SetCronJob.
